- a casino with a bad reputation and a hidden ownership

by Rudolf Faix 14. June 2015 12:37

MansionCasino.comThe online casino affiliates have been years ago a good business for affiliates. More then 20 years ago one of my friends in Austria earned very good by promoting online casinos. It seems the time has changed a lot and/or the casino owners have been coming too greedy that they need to use spyware and adware in their own software for spying their users. Whatever the real reason is, we can only guess it.

My opinion that someone, which hides his name at the domain registration data by using a proxy service, has something more to hide then only his privacy gets confirmed in this case.

Fact is that I got the following warning by opening the site from

Warning! Could be unsafe!

Adguard has blocked access to this page

Adguard has found that this page may be a forgery or imitation of another website, designed to trick users into sharing personal or financial information. Entering any personal information on this page may result in identity theft or other abuse.

As one warning comes seldom alone I got immediately the next one after proceeding to the page:

Especially the adware link inside the above message is interesting:

All these adware and trojans are built for stealing information from your computer and deliver promotion to you.

Win.Adware.Agent-6597 is a malicious application that is designed to circumvent computer security, compromise a system, and deploy various advertising elements. These can include pop-up windows, browser redirects, and other problems. Some Win.Adware.Agent-6597 poses an additional threat by allowing personal information and computing activity to be collected and tracked.

The dangerous virus Win32.Troj.Undef(kcloud) is developed by the hackers to get the remote access to your computer, and steal your confidential data. This information may include the passwords, username, credit card numbers, and browsing history. The hackers use this data in the online frauds, and resultantly you lose your hard earned money. Besides that, this deadly dangerous virus modifies the windows registry by adding corrupt entries that cause regular crashes. Once installed, the Win32.Troj.Undef(kcloud) make your computer extremely slow by occupying the resources installed on the system.

I don't really like to test if they have removed or replaced the trojans and adware already. Such a report makes the site only more worse then only hiding their identity in the domain registration:

All these domains have a bad reputation already, using the same proxy service and the same DNS servers for their internet service. For me it seems that they have the same owner.

Suspicious Sites

Shopping Sherlock - - a site with a bad reputation

by Rudolf Faix 14. June 2015 06:33

Shopping SherlockWilliam Taylor sent me an invitation on LinkedIn. As I accept all invitations I have accepted his too. The only purpose of the invitation from William Taylor has been to send me a spam message with an invitation for an affiliate system with the name Shopping Sherlock. I have replaced his affiliate code with the sign "x" in his message, because it is nothing else then a simple pyramid system:

William Taylor

"Thank you for accepting my invitation"!

William Taylor

Sie haben diese Nachricht beantwortet:

What is my Goal? / Simple.
I want to help you Save, by giving you "Absolutely Free" an invitation to Shop on an Invite Only Platform that allows you to Find the Absolute Lowest Prices on the Web!..
Check out the site / Enter your Email address / Choose a User Name & Password / Go Shopping
Then Decide for Yourself / It’s Just That Simple!

With my nearly 40 years of computer networks and security experience I know that spam leads very seldom to a good offer. In this case the offer has already a very bad reputation. The first warning by following the link comes from AdGuard:

Warning! Could be unsafe!

Adguard has blocked access to this page

This web page at, has been reported as a phishing page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Adguard has found that this page may be a forgery or imitation of another website, designed to trick users into sharing personal or financial information. Entering any personal information on this page may result in identity theft or other abuse.

At the blog behind MLM we can read that Shopping Sherlock is nothing else then a copy of the crashed system from My Shopping Genie (closed May 2012) after they could not pay their affiliates. Each MLM or pyramid system, which is living only from membership fees, crashes as soon there are not enough new members joining the system are coming up. The same will happen to the system from Shopping Sherlock. There are enough free sites without any membership fees which are offering price comparing on the Internet available.

For a normal user is It not recommended to proceed after the first warning already. As I know that all my protection systems are up to date, I have continued visiting the page and got prompt the next warning from Web Of Trust - a system where user are rating the content of the sites:

WOT reputation of

Such a scam rating is interesting and I have followed for reading the comments about this ratings. You find at the site Web Of Trust like everywhere about Shopping Sherlock positive and negative ratings and you can decide which ratings you are more believing. I'm listing here only the ratings written in English. If someone likes to get the other ratings translated he can use Google translator. The comments from Web Of Trust:

User picture

This site's URL appeared in Disqus forum spam and should not be trusted. "

User picture

Potentially illegal

Misleading claims or unethical

A form of pyramid selling designed to fool the gullible and the stupid. As with all pyramid schemes this scam will eventually fail leaving its creators very rich and virtually everybody else out of pocket. "

If we verify these rating then we find out that they are true. The only possible earnings on the site Shopping Sherlock are done selling memberships for affiliates. With other words the affiliates have nothing to do as to work for Shopping Sherlock and pay for their work. This makes the site to SCAM. In the whole world is it usage that you get paid for your work and you need not pay for it. For this is the site nothing else then a simple pyramid system. Such systems are illegal in a lot of countries.

In such a system you are able to earn only if you are a member since the early start up time. As later you enter the system as harder it comes to earn by convincing new members. The system started in February 2012 (which wonder that is close to the time as My Shopping Genie has closed down on May 2012) and has reached now an Alexa global ranking of 105,934. That the site is growing slowly already as it get shown in the Alexa global ranking, where Shopping Sherlock has improved their rankings during the last 3 months only for 1,135 positions. That the lifetime of such systems is relative short get shown by the example of My shopping Genie. My Shopping Genie launched late 2007 and the reports that they could not pay their affiliates more than 6 months already, have been coming up during September 2011. With other words the system worked only 3.5 years. If we compare it with Shopping Sherlock then we can expect, as it is nothing else then a copy of Shopping Sherlock, a break down at the end of this year or during 2016. It is depending how fast they are growing with their affiliate structure until no new affiliates can get convinced. As soon as the new affiliates gets it that they cannot find some new members and they have to pay more as they are earning the break down of the system starts.

Fraud & Scam

Failures in the landing pages and in the affiliate systems

by Rudolf Faix 12. June 2015 10:15

Globe with flagsTake a look at Alexa how popular the ad blocking services from (world ranking today: 40,717) and (world ranking today: 6,477) are. In such a case is it very recommended to check the advertising system of your affiliate system against these services.

Even if you think that is not so important because you are using other promotion methods then a website, you should check your landing page if the links are not getting filtered. A landing page, which gets blocked or which does not show the promotion is only a waste of time and resources.

Do you think one of the visitors, which gets such a warning will continue visiting your site?

Warning! Could be unsafe!

Adguard has blocked access to this page

This web page at, has been reported as a malware page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Adguard has found that malicious software may be installed onto your computer if you proceed. If you've visited this site in the past or you trust this site, it is possible that it has just recently been compromised by a hacker. We recommend you to not proceed or try again later.

Or your site looks like this, where the visitor is even not getting a signup link displayed:

Screenshot with AdGuard

Without AdGuard it looks like this:

Screenshot without AdGuard

I have especially used the site, because this site looks like from an absolutely beginner. But even more professional sites are making the same impression. If we take a look at the Alexa ranking, then we see that the site is a big secret in the world wide web. With one link in and a world wide ranking of 4,264,637 does not come more than one visitor each month to the domain. Alexa makes a daily ranking.

Alexa ranking of

In any case is it not a good idea to use some free hosting services instead of using our own idea. It makes for the visitors the impression that you even not earn enough money for paying the domain fees. How do you convince the visitors from the opposite in this case?

Other negative examples are the pages where a showman and self-glorifier like to explain in a video how much money he is earning. You’ll not find on such pages some information that can convince you for signing up. Such pages are only time waster.  If I see such a page I close immediately the site. If they are not able to promote the product with a description the promised is not interesting already. In such a case I even don’t check the Alexa site ranking of the landing page or the main page.

Other time wasters are the self-glorifier which even doesn’t know that the world has 24 time zones. Such stupid ones are setting up webinars for getting more information only in their own area. They will never get international customers or affiliates.

The same stupid time wasters are only promoting the maximum possible earnings and not the products. If I don’t know the product then I need not sign up. How can I promote a product or a system which is not fitting to my products, services or existing mailing list receivers? How can I promote a product from which I know nothing?

Videos and pictures are not getting indexed from the search engines. Such sites can only get promoted by using the social networks. Why should someone waive the visitors coming to the site from the search engines? Such systems are not working. Such systems can only survive from membership fees, Why should someone work and pay for such a system?

Tools helping in evaluating the promotion and reality of affiliate networks

by Rudolf Faix 11. June 2015 15:26

All the named tools and plugins are freeware tools and the provided links don't contain any affiliate code.

Qihoo 360 Total Security

360 Total SecurityTo have a good Virus scan is important for each computer or device. I’m using the free virus scan 360 Total Security from Qihoo including the browser plugins. This product even blocks suspicious websites and of course malware sites. You have in any the case to proceed to the site from which you get warned. I made a good experience with the support from Qihoo.

Adguard AdBlocker (browser plugin)

AdGuardAdguard AdBlocker effectively blocks all types of advertising on all web pages, even on Facebook, Youtube, and others! The security module blocks access to all fraudulent and malicious sites. You have even the choice to disable the ad blocking functions for a whole site.

Alexa Toolbar (browser plugin)

AlexaThe Alexa Toolbar shows you the rank in the traffic which a domain generates in the world wide web. Alexa says about it ranking mechanism:

Alexa’s traffic estimates and ranks are based on the browsing behavior of people in our global data panel which is a sample of all internet users.

Alexa’s Traffic Ranks are based on the traffic data provided by users in Alexa’s global data panel over a rolling 3 month period. Traffic Ranks are updated daily. A site’s ranking is based on a combined measure of Unique Visitors and Pageviews. Unique Visitors are determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single Pageview. The site with the highest combination of unique visitors and pageviews is ranked #1. Additionally, we employ data normalization to correct for biases that may occur in our data.

My own experience is that an Alexa rank of 200,000 is equal to around 300 visitors per day and a rank over 1,000,000 is already a big secret in the World Wide Web.

Resume: If 360 Total Security or the AdGuard plugin is warning you from visiting the site or the main site of the affiliate network has an Alexa ranking over 100,000 then you need not sign up for being an affiliate marketer. In this case you are only losing time and money.

Security & Tools

Advise before selecting an affiliate network

by Rudolf Faix 11. June 2015 10:35

Turn off jealousy and the greediness for money in your mind. You should appreciate and be grateful for what you already have. You may think your life sucks. But there are billions of people who would gladly trade places with you right now.

Three billion individuals live on around $2 per day, while 1.5 billion have $1 or less every day. Seventy percent of those living on $1 or less every day are women. Did you realize that 75% of the world population is living by the lowest wage permitted by law?

Investigate all the things you have already – food, clothing, flat or a house, Internet, devices, family, friends, toys, TV, etc. I am certain you have enough food for supper this evening and breakfast tomorrow morning. You've most likely got enough change in your pocket to get a coffee at the next coffee shop.

Compare your life with the man at the following picture:

poor man searching in waste

All this affiliate program presentations are psychological playing with the jealousy and greediness of the people. You’ll find in 99.9% of all the promotions for an affiliate program the theoretical possible earnings, which not one of the affiliates is able to reach. Even 10% of that what they are promoting are for normal affiliates not really reachable. You find at their website in the most cases in the disclaimer written: “…. TO EXPRESS OUR OPINION OF EARNINGS POTENTIAL

With other words that would be possible only if the system would be running like they have calculated it. The problem is only that the reality is different to their calculation. There is no “Holy Grail” in business available. If someone finds a Holy Grail in business he will not tell about it, because if all copy it then his own earnings are going down.

If someone promotes a way for getting rich, then he needs your work and your money for getting rich. The people are all thinking about themselves. What will happen to you is not important for them as long as you are functioning. Don’t forget it, when you are searching for an affiliate program.

Each promotion shows you first how rich the inventor of the campaign got already. This takes around 35% of the “free” eBook or video. This is followed from 25% vainglory, about 5% product information and 35% about prices and gifts or additional values which you get if you sign up. All this is should get sold by using all possible psychological sales tricks.

They are promising that you get for your $10, $20, $30, $40, etc. values for a few thousand dollars. If you are thinking logically then you’ll know that nobody can give you more money, without running into bankruptcy, than he earns from you. The giveaways have no value in this case. They are only overpriced announced for the purpose of your sign-up.

Be very carefully and check which value you really get and take a good look at the product, which shall get sold. Maybe you’ll not be able to sell it.

If you have the idea to sell the product by using your website, then you need a very interesting website, which gets visited by more than 10,000 individuals for one sale. If your site has an Alexa ranking of around 200,000 then you will make, if you are lucky, one sale per month.
